The coffee table has a glass top with a structure in solid wood in two colors, which gives the name to the piece: all piece is painted black, except two crossbars that hold the tabletop, in the natural golden color of the wood. As in other furniture pieces by the company, the design plays with the company's name – the literal translation is "black and white."
The studio was managed by the architects Miguel Forte (1915-2002), Jacob Ruchti (1917-1974), Plínio Croce (1921-1984), Roberta Aflalo (1926-1992), Carlos Millan (1927-1964), and Chinese architect Chen Y Hwa. It operated for approximately ten years and marked the history of Brazilian design, becoming a reference for architects at the time – who visited the studio to learn about trends and discuss ideas.
Although this design doesn't have the authorship signed by any of the Branco & Preto architects, the lines match perfectly with other furniture pieces by the company, such as the M1 Armchairs by Carlos Milan and the R3 Armchair by Jacob Ruchti. That demonstrates the solid style built by Branco & Preto.
This piece is restored, in very good vintage condition.
