The Mocho stool is one of the most iconic pieces designed by Sergio Rodrigues in 1954, before founding the Oca store.
As a free interpretation of a typical rural artifact, the cow-milking stool, the Mocho stool synthesizes both functions' simplicity: a piece that could be used as a seat and also support. The inspiration came from the circle, triangle, and trapezoid geometric forms and translated informality through its design resources. Mocho is a low piece on which the user has to crouch to sit, aided by a handle that allows it to be moved anywhere.
Rodrigues sought a skilled lathe-operating carpenter and showed him the stool design. Right there, they produced the very first piece. It has been a success since then, arousing great interest from the public and other furniture manufacturers.
In addition to being a mark in Sergio Rodrigues' history as a designer, the Mocho stool was the starting point of other furniture pieces, especially the Mole armchair and two other remarkable creations, the Arimello coffee table and the Cantù dining chair.
