Ernesto Hauner
About
Ernesto Hauner (1931-2002) was an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in 1949 and soon started working with furniture design alongside important figures such as Lina Bo Bardi, Sérgio Rodrigues, Martin Eisler, and his brother Carlo Hauner. He started his professional career at Studio Palma, which would later become Móveis Artesanal, and became a partner at Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte. In 1958 he started his own business with a small factory in São Paulo, making modular bookshelves out of solid wood. Ernesto's drawings explored the possibilities and uses of new materials that the Brazilian industry was beginning to produce, adapting his projects to mass production and developing complete furniture lines for the home and office.
