Joaquim Tenreiro (1906-1992) used thin wooden sticks in some of his chairs to compose light seats. One of these pieces, which became well known, was the Structural Chair.
Created in 1947 in two versions, one with a cane seat and another upholstered, the Estrutural Chair had a backrest formed by sticks with the smallest possible diameter. There are also two versions for the structure legs and back frame: rectangular or round.
The chair was reissued in 1967 in polished brass with upholstered back and seats, but with the thin sticks still present. The brass version was the last piece of furniture produced by the Tenreiro Móveis e Decoração store in São Paulo. After delivering the pieces designed to compose the dining table in the Banquet Hall of Itamaraty Palace in Brasília, his store’s commercial activities were closed.
This set of eight Estrutural chairs is available. Send us a message to know more.
