Joaquim Tenreiro (1906-1992) designed and produced the Curved Sofa in c.1960, commercializing it in his company Tenreiro Móveis e Decorações – with stores in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
A wooden frame comprises a shell-shaped piece with soft nubuck leather upholstered padding and cushions. Tenreiro's design choice for the feet contrasts with the curved upholstery, bringing four rectangular legs made of solid Brazilian Rosewood.
In this piece, the large curved frame visible in the front is transformed into a delicate line when we look at the sofa in profile.
The Curved sofa design also has matching armchairs, presented in many interior projects magazines side-by-side with important Brazilian artworks – proof of the excellent taste of who was the consumer of modern furniture at the time, but also nowadays.
