Chair designed and produced at the University of Brasília between 1962 and 1964 by students of the Tronco de Artes course under the guidance of architect and professor Elvin Mackay Dubugras.
Still found dispersed throughout the university's interior to this day, they are known as "student furniture." The challenge in identifying the authorship of the project arises from the variety of furniture pieces designed and crafted by students during the era when woodworking classes were offered in the first two years of the course.
Regarding the materials used in making these furniture pieces, one must consider the challenges and technical limitations of that time, which often dictated the adoption of simple designs, resulting in furniture characterized by straight lines and rustic aspects. Nevertheless, these pieces still exhibit similarities to the concepts that influenced Brazilian modern furniture, as championed by Joaquim Tenreiro, Sérgio Rodrigues, and other designers and architects.
Only 12 units of this chair were discovered in a survey conducted by the university itself.
