This Round Coffee Table in Caviuna was designed by Martin Eisler (1913-1977) and Susi Aczel (1931-) for Forma S.A. Móveis e Objetos de Arte.
This piece is one of the most iconic pieces of the work designed by Martin Eisler, and it refers to a furniture typology common at midcentury and very produced by Forma: the showcase table.
The coffee table is composed of two tops, one in Rosewood and the other made of glass – which is missing in this unrestored piece. With perfect proportion between the Caviuna structure and its cutouts, the piece plays with the vision, exploring the geometric shapes formed from the presences and voids of material.
Besides the aesthetics richness, the fascinating proposal allows the user to exhibit objects under the glass top without compromising the table’s usable space. This piece, produced in São Paulo in circa 1960, could also be found in the Argentine branch of Forma directed by Susi Aczel.
The coffee table is unrestored and presents an original stamp from the manufacturer, Forma S.A. Móveis e Objetos de Arte.
