This expandable table is an example of the inventive designs by Sergio Rodrigues (1927-2014). The four-seat table made of solid Rosewood with a veneered top is extendable for six seats, with a practical engine at the table's center.
This piece presents some of Rodrigues's well-known characteristics: the robust structures in solid wood, feet and crossbars with oval sections, chromed brass rods for supporting – the same solution used at the Burton Table.
Sergio liked to name his pieces with the names of people he knew. Stella was the name of Sergio's grandmother on the mother's side. She came from a family of intellectuals and had a significant influence on Sergio's upbringing. As an homage, Sergio gave her name to this beautiful and versatile creation.
This piece is in the original condition, with wood burning stamps and paper stamps from the manufacturer, Oca.
