The Spanish painter Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) produced ceramics between 1947 and 1971 at a studio called Madoura, where he met his second wife, Jacqueline Roque. It is she who is depicted in the drawing.
This plate is a 1993 production of 200 copies, attributed as "After Picasso," referring to works produced from originals by the artist after his death.
