    SPECIAL ISSUE
  • Reflections on the changes in how and where we work
and the roles of furniture and interior design in it

  • One of the most striking human characteristics is the ability to adapt. Not only the ability to adapt to different places and situations, but also the ability to shape the external world around us in order to make it more suitable for our needs. In this way, generations have been living - and surviving.

Moved by a global pandemic context, society is nowadays faced with the need to adapt to a new model of life, which involves the resignification of its spaces and relationships. The confinement policies set on a global scale have imposed, on behalf of survival, that individuals isolate themselves from the social coexistence, which is inherent to life in urban centers. Therefore, we retreat to our domestic space, the house. This space, designed and built by each of us as a refuge, is shaped by us to shelter according to what we understand as our needs for accommodation and well-being. What we will look at, where we will sleep, how we will prepare and consume food, what we will see through the windows.

In this new context we are living, one of the main issues we have to deal with concerns the execution of work activities.

Thinking about these current issues, the second edition of Bossa Mag focuses on the theme Workspaces. In the following pages, we seek to present the reader with some materials and reflections on workspaces from the conception of the office, its contexts and configurations. We hope that this content can contribute to stimulate the debate about how the furniture and the spaces in which they are inserted influence (and are influenced) by social factors.
