Crafting the Future

Bossa is pleased to present Lucas Recchia: Crafting the Future, an exhibition that explores Recchia’s evolution as a designer, where tradition and contemporary aesthetics converge. Known for seamlessly blending traditional techniques with modern forms, Recchia pushes the boundaries of materiality with new processes and intricate designs.

The Zel table, an evolution of the Morfa collection, introduces geometric metal forms within molten glass, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that combine sculptural depth with figurative elements. The Mosai collection continues Recchia’s exploration of glass, fusing small colored glass sheets to produce vibrant effects, transforming the surrounding space.

New pieces from the Janelas collection make their debut, including a sideboard crafted from rare Vitória Regia quartzite and a coffee table featuring black marble and yellow glass, highlighting the contrast between solid materials and fluid glass. The Material Distortion collection expands with new mirrors, patinated coffee tables, and centerpieces, made to order with precision and artistic integrity.

Finally, Halo, a sideboard combining bronze and glass, adds an unexpected twist with a rod piercing the glass, continuing Recchia’s signature approach to blending materials in dynamic, sculptural forms.

Crafting the Future reflects Recchia’s ongoing exploration of materiality, where each piece captivates with both visual beauty and enduring craftsmanship.

Lucas Recchia, born in 1992, on an island in the south part of Brazil starts his career as a designer in 2018 with his first solo show for the avant-garde gallery Firma Casa in São Paulo and quickly catches the attention of the whole country as the first Brazilian designer to develop glass techniques in furniture design. He incorporates the potential of recycled glass with ancient techniques with solar energy used by artisans with worldwide experience.

“My purpose is to mix the boundaries between art and design from the standpoint of a not-too obvious functionality and also express/add a Brazilian element that is not focused on the traditional modern Brazilian furniture made of wood."
